Who Has Linkia Starfish In Their Reefs, Please Post Piks If You Have Them, Thanx.....

I had a Blue Linkia in my reef that lived more then 6 years. They are safe and cause no problems. Mine finally died but I have not replaced it yet. Just acclimate slow and all should be good.

I have a blue, also, that I have had for almost two years (and the guy before me had for over a year). They are notably not very hardy, but if you can made it past the acclimation stage and have plenty of food in the tank for it to eat, it should do okay.

what kind of food does it eat?

I read someplace that they eat bacteria from the rocks. Not really sure though. They do much better in a well established tank though.

I have a sand sifting star. Have had it for about 8 months. Moving constantly. and is healthy. No pic of it yet since it is constantly buried

i have sand sifting star in my fuge, and used to be in my display when i had sand...I also had a multicolored linkia, pink, purple and white..I think they are the best bet for a linkia...

I had my for about a year and he even dropped a leg which had already started growing its legs in before I went barebottom.

Unfortunatly somehow I forgot he was in there when removing rocks and him and his "offspring" got misplaced when i drained the tank to go barebottom.:(

Woah, Bomber is on that old thread of Noschwag's. I was getting ready to add one too, but am afraid of it knocking over corals that are newly encrusted.

I have had mine for over six months..Very active and constantly eating.

Doesn't cause problems..Really an attraction for my tank. Everybody loves to watch him move around.

Here's mine, not the common Linkia, but a Linkia none the less. Had it for about 2 years now with zero problems, other than seeing it very rarely....

Adrian, I have the same one!

They are called Blue and Gold Linckias, I forget the scientific name though...

What size tank do you have it in?

Have you tried to feed it anything like seaweed or something?

That picture should be on the cover of a magazine!!! I'd love to find one!

I HAD one marble linkia that RM sells. Past tense refers to the number "one", he split off 4 babies, dropped his arms and they regrew the other 4 legs.

I only know of one wholesale company that sells these. and I only see this species listed every once and a while.. they are rare.. but hardy.. which is good!

So what exactly do they eat? I remember reading at least a year ago that no one knew what they eat, hence why they die.

Thanks for the compliments :)

Ive never tried to feed it anything, just fends for itself, as i mentioned ive had it for about 2 years now, and its doing very well, I assume it feeds on ditritus or possibly algae.
