Who has or has had a Naso

My favorite fish is a blonde Naso and have been thinking about ordering one but would like to get some personal opinions from those who have experience with them. My tank setup is a 220 mixed reef with two small clowns, a Tomini Tang and a brackish puffer. Inverts are 2 cleaners, 2 peppermints, a tuxedo urchin, a sand star and mixed snails and crabs. Would one fair well in my setup?

It can live in a 180 but do remember that it will grow to fully 1/4 of the length of your tank. It won't be a good look, IMO and it certainly won't have much swimming room. Tank length is far more important than gallonage, especially with tangs.

Just get one if you want one. I have one in a 210gal and having bought small it will be years before he will come anywhere near running out of room.

Well, it is not just fish size that determines desirable (note I did not say minimum) tank size. For this fish, Reef Central recommends an 8 foot tank.

I have mine in a 240 gallon. He/she is nowhere near full size. Very active fish. If I were to recommend one I would say get one from hawaii they look the best and are supposed to be the most hardiest. It is a least aggressive fish and they look great. very active. good luck

I've got two in a 180. They are beautiful but as prone to ich as any other tang out there in my exp. make sure you get one fully eating and get one about 3 inches or so. The larger ones tend to go on hunger strike more.

This.

You can get one for a 220, but do so knowing it will outgrow the tank in a few years. As long as you recognize when to upgrade or sell to someone with a larger tank, go for it. I know somebody local that has a 9-10" blonde naso in a 6' 180, and it looks ridiculous TBH, the poor fish can hardly move around with the rockwork. They can be picky eaters also, so find one that's 3-4" and eating.

I kept one in an 8ftx3ftx2ft(high) plywood tank and felt even that was too small for an almost foot long fish. Lots of more appropriate options IMO.

I used to have one in a 150 6ft x 2ft x 2ft. One of my favorite fish, adult male with full grown streamers. Super healthy and fat. One of favorite fish. But I felt bad cuz the 150 I felt was way too small for him, didnt show signs of stress but a fish that big is deserving of a big tank.

Great fish
I love blondes even though my wife is a brunette :)
I have a blonde naso, great personality , eats nori out off my hand :)
Should get it
LA DD has one every week or so from small to big ones.
