Here is a pic I took yesterday of the left side of my 300g. The Teal Samoensis on the far left is 14", The yellow samoensis in the middle is 11", the birdsnest on top is 12", The green pavona at top is 12"
I cannot take credit for these corals. These were Shawn Bennetts prized pieces. The Tort is around 16" tall and around 12" in Diameter. I have it laying on its side right now. The Yongei may be a little bigger and the Japanese Cap is at least 11" in Diameter. Whatever Shawn was doing, he was doing right, becasue they are all massive. Even the so called "Yellow Tort" which he recieved from "O2manyfish (Dave Botwin) is around 10" tall. Simply crazy.......Hope I can do the same
weast's green gemmifera (top left) is the largest captive coral i have seen, he also has a number of large stags... the gem is big enough that you will strain your back leaning over the tank to pick it up
this picture is at least 6 months old, it has grown even more since this was taken. hard to get scale, but the coral is about 5 feet back in the tank and that is probably a 3" regal tang to the right of it. the green stag in front of it would fill a 24" cube pretty easily.
Its pics like that that make you nation wide. Absolutely incredible. At the going rate for torts you have a luxury car in your tank! Do you know how old those pieces are?
Charles, I think Shawn has had the Tort for like 7 years if I am correct. He might be coming by this weekend to check up on his babies. I'll try to get as much info as I can. Can you believe he has fragged it at least 50-60 times for me since last May. I think I need to find out his recipe. The Tort in Steve's tank is pretty big I hear too. I see it hiding in the back of pic. Is that an Oregon Tort in the front? Looking good. Nice Cap there Chris.
