Who here has XENIA???

I'm interested in Xenia. Did some research and today I stopped at "The Fish Collection." They had a VERY nice display with a good amount of them! I wanted one so bad, but I live in Pembroke Pines and I was in North Miami Beach :(

I know they grow like weed, might be a good thing actually. My tank is pretty empty right now. Anyone want to "donate" some to me? :D I can pick it up whenever.

Also, any recommendations about care, feed, etc. Anything about them!!! I want to learn more and more... colors variations, growth rate, etc!

as my tank stabalizes again after my move in august i am sure i will have more than enough to donate if you are willing to wait... i have a very small colony that i bought (maybe 15 polyps on 2 flat against the rock "stalks") that quickly turned into 50+ polyps on 3-4 1" stalks in a matter of 2 weeks before i moved things around and stunted its growth... and now i wont be settling it back into a normal show tank until august when i move... but when i do... expect your wait to be a month and you can have a hunk

I have problems growing Xenia in my main tank (38gal) Ive tried 3 times.....after time they just seem to melt away...still havent found out why....I have no problem with them in my 12 gal nano grow like weeds....With the main tank its driving my crazy...the only think I can think is wrong is maybe the DSB

I could give you a few stalks, Just Pm me and let me know when you want to come and get it, I don't know what the secret to grow it is but in my tank it grows agresively.

they need iodine. if you do a 10% water change every 2 weeks and you have good light you'll need a mower to get rid of it.:eek1:

im always down with getting different kinds.. maybe we should have a xenia swap some day? id like to have a xenia corner or wall in my new tank that im setting up in august...

I think we are going to have a frag swap the end of next month. Nothing definite yet but it is in the works.

You can trade all you want :)

just to share how weed like xenia can be... even during htis stressful moving and temp tank situation my corals are in i just found a 4 polyp stalk growing on the thin layer of sand i have in the tank.... meaning a polyp detached or was cut off, floated around, landed on the sand and grew a stalk.... crazy....
