Hello
It would help...
Material desired...
Finish desired...
Do you have an elevation plan, how tall 42" ?
Do you want the cabinets enclosed, door style or open shelves?
From what I see, you looking at three seperate cabinets leveled and screwed together?

Well.......

Material - Oak-ish? o) (I don't mind cheap stuff at HD that has a stuffed middle and nice outsides?)

Finish - Trimmed (something that looks decent) and stained? (not sure what color)

The stand is 36"
The tank is 22"
The canopy 14"
Overall 72"

I would like a cabine door for under the tank, the left side and the right side. Each one has its own door.

The idea here is I wanted a ton of room underneath the tank for my equipment and a much larger sump. So underneath the stand, I would like it to be all open and interconecting. Kinda like a normal tank stand, just with the angles sides.

Is that possible?

That "stuffed middle" material is a type of fiber board, ie: pressed wood. It does NOT have the strength needed and swells and degrades if wet. You want a stand made of real wood such as 2x4s or better and faced with sealed oak plywood or such. I've made stands and such for my tanks like that, don't risk less. Mine just don't have the professional look yet, but I'm learning.

And you'll need to provide a lot more imput to whoever builds it. Sizes, wood types, space, doors, furniture style, finishes, etc, etc and most importantly, PRICE RANGE, lol !! Teak is beautiful and strong and very pricey !!!

I agree with the above. However, I have used the hardboard pressed wood in the past for canopies and door panels with good results. It is light weight, has a very smooth finish (can only paint it) and works good IF properly sealed. I would never use it for anything that holds any weight.

Ok two down, anyone else?

BTW I am not looking to spend the amount of money I would at a LFS.

A stand and canopy that would be considered 'furniture quality' will usually cost more than the MDF and pressed wood stands that you'll find at the local fish store.

That said, a good quality stand will last much longer and allows the ability to match it to existing furniture.

Good luck!

We have a guy that does custom stands and canopys for the shop I work at that uses oak. Stands and canopys go for just about the same that the crap AGA and what not use. Just like people here don't expect to pay LFS prices for livestock from a RC user. Ya know? Not looking for someone to do it for free, I just dont want to be raped like the LFS do to ya. O)

BTW The Grog gave me a price that was exactly what I was looking for. Timeframe just doesn't allow things to happen.
