Who is using Reeftech LED?

Rob how are you programming the lights? What platform windows, osx, ios , android? Can you elaborate on this a little.

I use PC to program the light. I have used both the included USB cable to connect and the integrated WIFI..both work great.

I also heard the IPAD software is out, although i dont own a ipad so i have not used it.

Any other specifics you would like to know about?

Is the lighting fluid when simulating clouds and thunderstorms? What I mean is it not a big jump in light output when a cloud comes over or is it smooth? Is the ramp up and ramp down smooth also unlike a switch with low medium and high.

How fast it ramps up and down is all up to you..here are two examples.

1) 50% at 10AM then 100% at 10:10 AM...it will be pretty fast and noticlable.
2) 50% at 10AM and then 100% at 11AM...you dont even notice the change, its very slow and constant..unless you leave the room and come back an hour later.

as far as clouds..for the 2011 model (or the 2010 to polyreef) the clouds are also fluid..but again you can change the settings to make them faster or slower....no clouds yet on the 2012..but like i said they are working on it and should be out soon..

Great question...anyone that claims they have a par value from an led light containing more than just white leds..is not telling the truth or just not well informed.

Go to the vivid aquariums website..they have a link on there to their led vs mh tank experiment thread. On that they have a link to a letter from Apogee..the manufacture of the most popular PAR meeter.

The letter states that only white leds will give a accurate PAR reading on their meters. Blue are off by 30%..and that depends on what blue your talking about...red and green will not even register on the meter.

so just because the par meter is not picking it up doesn't mean the par is not there..it just means that current par meter are unable and not calibrated to capture all wavelengths of par.

you have to have a spectrometer to do this..im not an expert..but those sound expensive.

Cheaper price and better service, I have ReefTech and they are ok but do not hold a candle to AquaStyle.

Just my .02

I had the wrong ReefTech in mind when I made this statement, I use Reef-Tech LEDS as a build kit and not a all-together fixture.

So I am sure these are quality LEDS by looking at pics over peoples tank and there well put together website.

I spend time on various different forums researching my hobbies, and without a doubt this is one of the more bizarre threads I've read.....

Guess Im glad I didnt get one. I ended u with a E-Shine and its great for the price.......which is less than 1/3 of the Reeftech.

Are we are playing the guessing game again....
Anything you type here stay on forum.....

I saw the original post too, and subscribed to this topic to read the followup. Sounded like something horrible happened, either with the actual product or with customer service.
