Who keeps rics under MH

I currently have about 30 ricordias (mostly yumm'a and a few flordias) in my 125, that has 440W of VHO lighting.

I am wanting to move a few of my nicer rics to my 10 gal nano. The 10 has 70W MH with 65W pc acintics (the pcs are only on an hour before and after the MH)

If I slowly acclimate them to light will they thrive? Maybe start them out in a cave, and slowly move them out?

Any thoughts?

Anyone else keeping rics under MH?

I got a 10g with 175W MH, with some blue and orange rics, they both do well under the lighting and have gotten biggen than when I had them under 90w CF lighting

They should do fine, I would put them low in the tank, and watch the photoperiod for the first couple of days. If there is any sign of bleaching I'd either slightly shade them for awhile, or maybe just run the mh for a few hours for the first week or two.

I will try it out, probally increase the MH time a little each day. Hopefully in a few weeks then I will have them worked up to a regular lighting period.

I recently upgraded from 96w pc to MH 250w HQI and I have a few r. florida (orange and blue/green). I didn't shorten my photoperiod, I have other corals as well, but used screening material to acclimate them to the new lighting. They are in the bottom third of the tank, about 20" or so below the lighting. I started out with 5 layers of screening and removed one every 3-5 days. Everything seems to be doing well including my rics.

I agree with the above statements. I kept many color morphs in my old nano. The yumas should be in a cave type setting, or heavily shaded, in a nano or they will melt or bleach. Best of luck!

my Floridas are under 250W MH DEs (on the bottom of the tank)
