Who knows what about bringing fish back from Japan

The title says it all? Anybody ever done this? What's involved. Is it easier to ship or carry on in the plane?

Seems problematic and troublesome. Why are you trying that in the first place?

I have a work colleague that travels there frequently and there is a specie of butterfly fish that I'm interested In which is prevelant there, but rarely makes it to the u.s. Trade.

What fish are you looking for

Someone from CT brought tiny interuptus back from Japan few years ago without issues but it's easier to contact koji from blue Harbor directly.

The water in the bag for any fish is well over the amount of liquid your allowed to have on a airplane. I brought some frags back from Florida and the only reason I was allowed to was because the TSA guy wasn't a douche. I would hate to get to the airport with the fish in hand and them tell you too bad. Koji did hand deleiver the Peppermint that Andrew has so it can be done in just not sure how to go about it. You could PM Andrew and see how he gets in contact with Koji. Or you could ask Ted but he has been MIA for over a month now

I didn't even think about the carry on liquid rule, SMRT, I am so Smart.

It would have to be a checked bag then. I'm not even sure I could convince my co-worker to do it, he's pretty busy while he's over there. He's not into aquariums either, which doesn't help.

Def talk to Koji..
but Tactics did it and I have his Interrupta that made the trip.
He brought her back in Nov of 2012 and sold her to me in March 2013.

In terms of TSA, live fish can be carried on planes. There are exceptions for the 100ml liquid rule, and there's articles out there on this topic (how to do it best).

Now the international part/customs is another layer I can't comment on.
