Who makes a 240g 96x24x24 Glass Tank?

I'll rephrase my statement with there's a higher probability of an imperfection just based on the nature of acrylic.

Again, if built correctly, there will be no distortion. It has higher clarity than glass.

I know you're not going with acrylic but if you ever do, find a good acrylic tank manufacturer. You'll see the difference immediately.

Ted, what size are you looking at now you have moved? I know you had a project tank planned.

I have a 300 8" tank "Not for sale" I am not sure of the maker Though I the dim are not exactly what your looking for since its 8'x24"x30" But I can look and see who made it. Mine is a very old school tank but the size your looking for is what I really wanted but I found this one and it was close enough."Also got it for 250$" As far as lighting I am using 8T5 and am thinking about a 400 mh on a track that moves end to end. I have seen this done before. Not sure how well it will work. My other option is to use LEDs for the extra lighting I need with the 8 T5. Then again I will take down the 5 reefs i am already running so it think the electric cost might go down.

Ha, there's just never enough room. It looks like custom is my only option and since I hate big in-tank overflow boxes, I'll likely come up with something a little unique. I'm thinking three top to bottom overflows, but shaped like a triangle tapering off at the bottom with bulkheads going through the back of the tank. The reason for top to bottom is I like how my megaflow pulls debris from the whole water column not just the top. But who knows still kicking around other ideas and someone more qualified than myself is going to have to do the engineering and math.

I have no intentions of upgrading again, so whatever I do is what it's going to be for a very long time.

Yes they can also do it for u. Get a bunch of bids and compare apples to apples. Don't think u will find a used 1 if that's what u were hopping ?

Great Lakes isn't bad price wise.

I got a quote from Planet for a 8x2x2 and it was 2100 through a local LFS and it was a basic tank.

Miracles would do the same with an external overflow, star fire 3/4" glass and a steel stand for $4800 to me in Indianapolis.

Good looking out djsmallz! So, I called him and here's the pic of the tank. It's acrylic, has 4 holes drilled behind the trapezoid overflow box. He said, and you can see it in the picture, there's a big scratch on the left front outside panel. No scratches on the inside. He's going to email me a few more pictures and a price without the stand. Can anyone ID who built this tank? He didn't know.

What do you guys think? Would the whole front panel need to be polished or just the scratch? How easy is it to do and get a factory finish or should it be done by a pro? How much is a fair price? I would think if I just polished the scratch it would create and imperfection there. I always liked black backgrounds and this one has a dark blue. :-/ Not sure how that would look. What would you offer for this tank? How hard is it to work on a 30 inch deep tank compared to a 24 inch? I'm not the tallest Italian in the world. I don't think Italians come very tall in general, just loud. Haha

Its labor intensive but not complicated. Now maybe I am just cheap but I would not pay a dime over 350$ for it. If it wasnt scratched that would be a different story but the scratches work in your favor as far as price. Getting the scratches out is just a slow process but you can do it.

Yeah, I should have put more thought into my previous post. I'm not going acrylic. My son is almost two and sticks to the outside of the glass like a snail. Lol. I could see him scratching an acrylic tank to hell. Not to mention I agree, that tank is way over priced.

Ok, so I found a tank that is 96x24x36 with 3/4 inch glass for $150. This thing has got to weigh a ton. No scratches. Glass center brace was broke, but he has a tempered replacement and rtv silicone which is included.

My only issue is that the overflow box with 4 holes is on one side of the tank. He said it was built as a peninsula tank for a restaurant. Of course I wouldn't be setting this up as a peninsula. I don't really like that setup, but for the price it's hard to beat. What would be some options for the drains? Seal them and drill new holes?

That is a way better deal than the acrylic tank.

Are the holes on the bottom of the tank? If so you should be able to silicone a piece of glass over them to seal them up, and as long as the tank isn't tempered you can drill new ones for a new overflow wherever you want.

to cap the holes you also could use a bulk head and put a small pvp pipe and cap it, or you can get a threaded bulk head and get a thread plug to to go in there to fill the hole also.
