who said you can't do anything with a 10gal sump?

Ok here is what you can see of the sump under my Anemone display:

Black thing is a UV sterilizer (has never been turned on)
Green thing is a 24V sprinkler valve for my ATO (has a transformer and 2 electric float valves you can not see:cost was $32 complete)
The skimmer is a Corallife 120 as I recall and hangs out the back
Chambers are both 4" pvc. The blue hose is a soft drain hose like a swimming pool filter uses and that is fed by the overflow at the tank. Is very quiet and so no need for durso/stockman mods. The sound is like that of a rock garden people buy for the trickle noise. Better half loves that sound
Skimmer dumps into a second hunk of PVC.
Return pump is at the very front (rio 2500hp)
I have a small 100gph circulation pump in the sump to promote some water movement. Also about 15lbs of live rock, macro algae and so many pods that they look like fog in the water.

Randall_James, No kidding about me copying you!

FareForce, I would make the skimmer section before the refugium section so you don't skim any pods. That way all they have to do is make it through the bubble traps to get to the return pump. I would also get rid of the LR rubble section to make more room for the return section.

Here is my little setup
1" PVC from the overflow to the skimmer section housing a Aqua C Urchin and temp probe.
That flows over into the refugium that houses LS,LRR, and chaeto.
That flows into the return section that houses PH probe, heater, dripper from my Kangaroo doser, return pump with 1/2" pvc , and the pump that feeds my UV sterilizer.
I am still in the process of buy two Koralia #1 and upgrading my light fixture.

Randall, I have a 55 (with 20g sump) that doesnt look as good.
Just goes to show that its better to do something right than half baked.. ( which mine apparently is.. I guess I need to spend more time on the thing than I have (may be I should copy cat ?)

Good luck with your set up Fareforce. Post your progress.

LOL, let see... one $35 tank, two 14" pieces of 4" PVC and a $75 skimmer, this is absolutely the cheapo sump setup.

I had the Rio 2500HP left over from a skimmer
The 100Gph was a freebie for testing the Fission Nano skimmer
The pipe was laying in my garage

I have more time and effort in the automatic topoff
A $13 electric sprinkler valve
two $8 float switches (Had these for a long time)
24V doorbell transformer ($6)

I thought FareForce had a tidy looking setup, I have to go tear mine apart now I am embarrassed
