So who all use Randy's 2 part??? I would like to know the amount you dose per day and how long it lasts?? Also, which Mg are you using?? I just want to see if my calculations are right, and see what others are doing.

I calculated using JDiek's calculator
45 gallons actual water
raising Ca from 380ppm to 420ppm (over 2 weeks): 9.2mL/day
raising Alk from 6 to 8 dkH (over 2 weeks): 26mL/day
raising Mg from 1250ppm to 1400ppm (over 2 weeks): 272mL/week (placing in top off water which my tank evaps 5g/wk)

To me these values seem high, so I would like to get input before I start this. Even the values from Randy's recipe #2 seem high. Suggested starting dose for mixed reef is 45mL/day for Ca and Alk.

Trying to do this right this go around.

Using Part 1 or Part 2? The calculator works, I've used it on numerous occasions. As an example, Part 2 alkalinity solution at 45 gallons for a 2 dKH change requires 128.5 mL. Over 2 weeks, that is 128.5/14 or 9.2 mL per day. Part 1 is less, so something is wrong with your numbers.

Thanks a ton dave. I have the wrong name by the dose per day, here are the real numbers.

Ca: 26mL/day
Alk: 9.2mL/day
Mg: 272 mL/week

This is all using Recipe 2.

The doser max rate is 25mL/min, and I want to dose the amount 2x day, so here are the numbers for that:

Ca:31 secs
Alk:11 secs
