delphinius any chance of me keeping a gigantea with my BB? i have flow and water quality just no sand.

Definitely. My two gigantea's are in a BB tank. :)

Here's a picture. They're currently wedged into a 24x24x12 frag tank (I should get them something better soon - but I broke my shoulder in a mountain biking accident a couple weeks ago so maybe it will be a "fall project").

great i think im going to try and pick one up.

clear the whole right side of my 36x18x18 for it.

Just reading your tank info in your sig - should be a nice setup for one.

Good luck and please keep us posted!

GSM, Please pm me or post the price of these beauties! How does one buy from SC (if you don't live in Ohio). I have tried online, I've tried calling. Those are some beauties. I'd like to get one before they are all gone.

GSMguy - would you mind PMing me the price too? just curious, I paid $70 for the one in the thread I started this AM. I see that divers den has two blue ones for $199 each.

Just a suggestion. Don't go in thinking you want this color or that color. Go in thinking you want the a perfectly healthy anemone. Not the healthiest one they have, but a carpet that is completely healthy. Be willing to walk out empty handed if they don't have any that meet your highest standards. It will save you a lot of grief in the long run.

good advice, Phil.
Additionally, everyone considering having this anemone species shipped to them should take into account it's very sensitive nature. The shipping and handling process takes a toll on many of them.
Personally, it's not a gamble that I'd be willing to take.
I'd need to see the anemone in person before purchasing it and driving home with it.
IME this is one of the most challenging reef animals commonly available to maintain long term. Don't even consider one if you haven't done your homework.

Gary i feel i have read quite a bit but i would love if you could point me in the right direction or maybe i could come see your anemone someday i drive from clayton to ohio pretty often and come thru rochester.

I was wondering about that Clayton NY tag...

I've driven to Vermillion, Ohio and back in one day. I even stopped into 'Salty Critter'.

yea i am here on the st lawrence i think i had the only reef tank ever in the thousand islands last summer.

Gary,

How is your gigantea doing? How big across would you say it is when expanded? That is still probably the nicest looking gigantea I have ever seen...
