Why are my sps bleaching?

My lighting seems okay as I'm getting the right amount of par. Zoas don't open all the way. Chalice, birdsnest, and red cap are all bleaching out.

What could be causing this? Softies and blastos seem okay.

Your alk is at a good level, but it would not hurt to let it drop to the lower 8's.

How do you supplement CA/ALK, how much does it swing between doses?
How old is your tank?
What kind of lighting and what PAR are you measuring?
Has your tank's temperature been spiking? That is a common cause of bleaching this time of year.

You should flag your post and ask it to be moved to the SPS section. You posted in the soft coral forum

I am wondering if I need to lower my alk closer to 7 since I'm running close to an ULNS.

That would be my guess. I go by the theory that higher nutrients allow for higher Alk, lower nutrients require lower Alk. I run the same as you for Nitrate/Phosphate and I keep my Alk right around 7.5.

You might also get more advice if this was in the SPS Keepers section vs the Soft Coral Keepers section. A Mod might be able to move it for you.

I'd beg to differ on ULNS needing a lower alk. I have run around 9.2-9.3 with nitrates and phosphates near zero (less than 1ppm nitrates and less than 0.01 phosphates).

Where are the bleaching coral located in your tank - bottom, mid, top? Seems you have measured par, what is the par level you are getting where the corals are located? What's your flow look like? Are you dosing? If so, what do your alk/calc swings per day look? One big dose or small doses through the day?
