why are Vortech wet sides in such demand?

Other than completely losing one, I can't think of many reasons to replace the entire wet side. They will send out whatever individual parts of the wet side that need replacing.

I thought that they fixed all of their bearing problems in the current models. Other than that, the only issue that I can think of is wearing a groove in the magnet by running it off balance for a prolonged period.

Having an extra around is good because you can still use the vortech if you have to send the wetside in for repairs.

But like you said, I think the problems have been addressed since the Gen 2 MP40w.

I have a wetside that I just can't get apart because the oring got pinched. The nut became lose and caused the magnet to rub creating a decent groove in the magnet. I still haven't found time to do surgery on it.
