Why did I get out?

Well I wanted to get into my other hobby of Nature Photography a little more. I have really enjoyed popping over to the digital world so I am going to see what will come of it...

Here are some samples...

I will stop now.I choose to keep them small if you want to see a larger image let me know. I might even get into selling some prints, what do you folks think?

Jenn's gonna love them. She is a bird stalker. She keeps binoculars in the car and follows birds until she can find a spot to check them out. She's most interested in birds of prey, but water birds are another interest (she's from Gulfport, Ms). Great shots. I wish I had a fancy shmancy camera...

VERY nice pictures. I used to do the nature stuff, raised birds, rabbits, etc. Out in the wild studying birds, etc. I used to be as crazy about the birds as I am now about reef tanks. :)

very impressive photography skills. even with the best camera made, it ultimately ends with the user. you either have nerves of steel or quite a tripod! if you venture into the print business be sure to pm me! were always in the market for outdoor life pictures. it brings the "outside in" :) <~~steve

awesome pictures, what kind of digital camera did u used, it seems so clear and beautiful, it looks like a medium format camera have been used

GFlat:

Like what?

Turboex901:

Hmmm... you have my interest, pm me more info and we can chat...

Stinky2426:

The camera's used were the Canon DRebel (300D) 6.3mp for shots #1,#5,#6 and the Canon EOS-1D for shots #2, #3, and #4

One reason for the sale was to buy the Canon 1D.

The lens used is a Canon 400mm f5.6L

ol'salty: may not be a bad idea:

To answer back about the tripod. Shot #1, #5, #6 all taken with a tripod and the others were hand held. #2 was taken from a boat as we went up the west fork river fishing. Only moving about 1 to 3 mph.

Thanks to all of you for your nice comments...

Like a Canon DRebel (300D) 6.3 mp or EOS-1D;). Mine is a decent camera, but not an SLR and not good at taking tank pics because it wants to process what it sees. I just want it to store what I'm looking at...

Eric:
You going to make this months meeting? Sure would like some tank shots worth having...hint..hint.
Small price to pay for Cincinnati Chili! :D

Rick

Eric, I hate to say it but those pictures really suck.

Now please come back to reefkeeping.:D

No seriously they look great. I guess what is important is what makes you happy. I hate to admit it but lately with all the problems I have been having I would be lying if I said selling out hasn't crossed my mind. I sure could get a nice heli with the money. :p

Yea, but how would you feel when you had the control in your hand, and the new heli still drove itself into the ground? You wouldn't have a missed chem check to blame. :D
Guess you could go home and tell the wife a battery died, or a cable broke, or another pilot crossed your freq.
Sound Familiar?
Just wondering.

Would not miss the Chili Rick. I will do my best with the tank but do not expect miracles as I do not have the lens I need to do the job, Unless you want to buy it for me...LOL

Oh crashing is inevitable. Really I probably would just fix one I already have that is crashed. I DID crash it due to a solder joint being loose in my transmitter. At least with the helicopters you can just unbolt the broken things and bolt on new ones. With reef tanks you can't just "fix it" in an afternoon. That is probably the most frustrating thing for me.

Oh, that what. I re read and couldn't figure out which what. Mainly hawks, as they seem to be pretty prevalent around here. She'd love to go to Reelfoot and see some eagles. I sent her a link to the pics and may have her convinced we need one. She wants to be able to take wildlife pics with quality like that. Sounds like a win win:).

You can get a used DRebel or 10D for around 500-600 for starters... the real investment is the lenses.. Lots more money, Lots!!

And is she talking about maybe a hawk like this?

Yes both a captive. The first was in a recovery project for Radnor lake and the other is at the Zoo. I am planning a trip to Reelfoot!
