Why do clownfish babies dye after sponge filter added?

I'd skip that purchase, and get all of them from Seahorse Source. FAF starters aren't the best, I'll leave it at that.

I use the Hydor sponges. Theses

My parent tank hasn't been treated with anything. The fish die overnight when the lights are out and some of them do look like their bellies are pinched. Why is that?

My friend has a scope I can borrow. What exactly would I be looking for? Thanks.

Back to Lou's question,

I honestly think that you either have a parasite in the fish, or they're dying postmeta due to energy requirements. How soon after postmeta do you add the sponge filter? Is it every hatch that this happens? Are the fishes' bellies round before you sleep, then pinched after you find them dead the morning after?

If it's a parasite, you might try looking in the digestive system of the fish, similar to how you'd look at the gills (i.e. smash some intestines between a cover slip and slide, and check for stuff.)

I would also get my cultures from SeahorseSource, and I am not finding Iso harder to culture than anything else.

Check your tank water for hydroids. They might be too small to harm a 30 day clownfish, but I'm not sure.
