why do sps turn brown

i did raise my alk from 8 to 11 in 24 hours. could ph have anything to do with it. went fro 8.0 to 8.3 in 24 hours to.

phos,na,ni. all zero, can to much light do it. i have my tank in front of a window and sometimes open the curtins all day

too much or too little light would defintely do it, although water params can be a major issue as well as the water movement around the coral

Getting a good skimmer would also aid in getting your acro colors back.
When a new coral is introduced to a tank it must be accemated correctly and placed in the lowest part of the tank.

and stress +abrupt enviromental changes

I agree but IMO there is 2 different kind of browns.
Turd brown is from too high a nutrient level but sometimes I have corals get a tan/brown color. Specifically on my bonsai, efflo, and nana. The light tan/brown color seems to be from stress and its a PITA to get rid of.
I hope that I'm making sense :)
