So my big female ocellaris is dieing, was my first fish, she is little over 4 yrs old. everything is my tank is fine, water params are good, everyone is eating like crazy. very confused. my first fish to really just die.

additional information... she is lying on the bottom, in one corner. I noticed on the opposite side of the tank the male is fanning a massive clutch of her eggs. never has she laid on the bottom of the tank.

i really dont know, its just so unexpected, never seen her this bad, morning will tell

I'm really sorry to hear that. :( Was she grown when you got her? Was she wild-caught? Bigger WC fish are sometimes older adults.

This is just bizarre at about 4 am i came down to my tank, she was in a corner, my brittle star had his grimy legs all over her. i figured it was over.

This morning I came to the tank, she was still there in the bottom corner laying flat on her side.

just got home tonight and she is now hovering in the middle of the tank a few inches from her clutch. she is moving and waddling slow in the current.

FYI the clutch looks a few days old, it has already darkened up and there are lots of silver eyes. I can not believe she is still alive, i have no idea what is going on.

if anyone could shed some light on this would be great.

I am not sure if she was WC, but i got both my Ocs about 4 yrs ago, one became the female and one stayed small as the male. The male seems fine as always, fanning away at the eggs.

Clowns are very resilient little fish. I thought mine was going to die, due to digestive complications, but now he is doing better than ever. I hope yours pulls through.

Summary of Events:

She released a clutch: 2-3 days ago

Last night she was on her side in the corner of the tank, flopping upside down at times.

This Morning she was on her side, breathing was out of control

This evening she is now mid tank, in the rock work, moving her body , but staying put in the rocks.

Crazy course of events. I figured she was dead for sure. She has never been sick before , that I know of.

Update!

She is still alive. She is eating, but hiding way more then she has ever in her life. I only see her come out when the food goes into the tank.

Main observation is that her left Pectoral fin is no longer paddling her along. Has anyone ever seen this before? I am glad she is alive, but concerned she is has one lame fin now.

Thoughts?
