Why is my Haddoni afraid of light?

I've had him for about 5 years... As of last year, he started moving more and more towards shade.. Last month, he moved to the corner of my 48" tank where the PAR is a low 80. I have a BTA that sitting on a rock at 250 PAR.

Yesterday, the haddoni started moving even more and went between some rocks in the back of the tank.

Any ideas? BTW, I rarely feed him and it hasn't been a problem ever. I did notice his tentacles aren't very sticky. Other than that, he seems fine.

Well.. DkH is 9, calcium is 495, nirites/nitrates/phosophates are undetectable using hana test kit for phos and Seachem test kit for nitrites/nitrates (color stays white).

hows the flow? any changes to it? I ask as I am assuming that its the haddoni in your avatar. If so it may be getting to much flow. If the current is lifting their disc off the substrate its too much flow.

Yep he's the avatar guy! I recently did rearranged the rockwork a little due to trying to capture my clownfish... But the haddoni has been moving around a lot this year.

I did just toned down the flow this morning though.

I am willing to bet that you don't change water much. While the macro nutrients in your tank may be fine, there are a lot of micro substances in the reef tank that can only improved with water change. I know that if I become too lazy and not change my water, my anemones will not be happy. I think there are several reefers in Europe who promote minimal or no water change, but they check their water quite a bit more extensive and extensive supplement and salt choosing/testing.

I am lazy doing water changes myself sometime it goes for 3 months without changing water and I feed my tank everyday. My carpets still happy and I don't use skimmer. But I am not saying dirty water is not your issue, it may or may not. My red carpet stay put for more than 1 year then one day decided to roam everywhere. It ****ed me off I was gonna remove and sell him. One day I decided to add another 2"+ of course sand to an area I want him to be, and bam! Just like that, he stays in that spot ever since, I don't know why he has not moved for over 1 year and suddenly move around but the addition of course sand and added depth did it for him, knock on wood. The spot where he is now is -4" deep and is surrounded by large heavy rocks.

Thanks for the input. He finally settled in today in the middle of the tank and I moved some rocks around to keep him there lol. I gave him a small piece of shrimp to entice him to thinking he found a good spot for food.

One thing I noticed in the past, my AI LED lights... even when I adjust it up by 1%, he starts moving.. thats why I had suspected something about the lights. Will post again if he starts moving!
