Why is this happening to me :( everything is dying

SPS need weekly water changes, especially when they start to get bigger. If I go longer than 1 week I can tell the sps arent liking it. I would start doing more frequent water changes. If all you had is LPS, zoas, palys, and euphyllia, your water change schedule would be fine, but sps are far more delicate. I would bet money that it is micronutirent issue. The skimmer and GAC is removing them quicker than you replenish them via water change. Start doing weekly WC's and things will start coming back.

I'm reading this thread because of similar problems. I also see some brownish corals (not all but some) with greenish base. I can attest to the fact that things get worse if I let 2-3 weeks go by without a water change.

OldDude, I remember you posting about similar problems. Did your problem go away when you switched brands of DI resin? I have a whole bunch to use up and it's all from the same place...

same things happened to me and for 6 months things are slowly on the town hill spiral. i lost 50 % of my sps all lps and softies are doing great and growing. The sps seems to lose the tissue on mine where the light hits. my only idea of to fix it is large continuous water-changes, and siphon out the sand to hopefully put in new clean sand.

John90009, what have your PO4 test results been like during this time? Have you seen any nuisance algae in your tank? I also lost about 50% of my SPS in the last year due to this problem, and the tissue necrosis also starts in the areas where the light hits.

no one has said to check your alk, check it if it drops or raises too much then that might be the problem, i doubt its the r/o filters, or a sps eating nudi, heck even a snail, maybe AEFW, check for stray current in the tank or maybe a piece of copper fell in the sump or tank, or maybe a simple bacterial infection, there are SOOOOOOOOO many things that could go wrong with sps, if i remember another one i will post it, hahah

sana

just remembered, an acro eating worm (aeolid or something like that its called)
