Buy more polyps... :) FYI its a zoa not paly. Buying 1 polyp frags is crazy man. I am honestly surprised it has lasted 5 months. It's a one man army. You can't expect a lot out of it. I would personally never buy less than about 10 polyps at a time...
You mentioned your water parameters are perfect. Mind listing them?

lol my bad im still new to all this stuff anyways ill have to do another water test to check the parameter my temperature is always between 80-82F... anyways so what you are telling me is to buy more of the same zoas for them to spread?
thanks

It's pretty stressful for a zoa to be fragged into one polyp. They thrive in colonies so the more the better. When you get a frag, try to get atleast 4 polyps. I've been lucky with a two polyp frag but I know that zoas do really well in my system and would never buy less than 4 polyps at a time as a new zoa keeper. Good luck and maybe try moving them to a higher flow area. I know higher flow makes my zoas grow like crazy.

When I first started collecting zoas I got a 1 polyp frag of Candy Apple Reds, I still have that same one polyp frag with one polyp on it a year and a half later. So you should buy more than single polyp frags.

Nope, just in the future buy frags with more than one polyp. How much flow is the zoanthid getting? That could make a difference too. If you really want it to grow, just talk about how crappy it is and how much you hope it stays as just a single polyp and doesn't crowd out anything in your tank, then it should take off nicely :D

I'll throw in my 2 cents.. I only have two zoa colonies-- they were small but numbered several-- 5-10 at most. My eagle eye (no idea if that is even remotely correct) zoa colony has grown, but the individual polyps have grown considerable in size. My other colony (orange face with a blue button in the middle and BRIGHT green skirts) were small and 5 at most and it's double, at least, in the number of polyps. They are both at the highest rock, closest to a T5 lamb with two bulbs (I have plans on adding more) and a power head is pushing water directly over them-- a strong flow but not a blast of water, if that makes sense. They seem very happy... the orange ones have only been in my tank for half the time as the green ones, too.

I LOVE zoas... they ROCK!!!!!

I would make sure the alkalinity is in check.
The extra flow will help!! The best would be if it's not a constant flow.
Try to target feed one time to see what happens.
You'll need to relax and enjoy it's turn.

Grandis.

So when did you test? since you said that your parameters were perfect and then you said you needed to test again. water temperature is only one of many variables in water quality. They all count.

buying more than 1 polyp is quite impossible for polyps such as rasta/space monster and all those $50 per polyp zoas.

if they are not growing , there is something wrong with them or with your system.

i recently got 1 polyp of each of the following, CAR, space monster, sunny d and utter chaos, i now have 3-4 babies on all of them- in 1 week and a half.

i got a 4 polyp mohawk 1 month ago and it has now 20+ heads.

i believe not all systems can grow zoas at the same rate.
every zoa i put in my tank just explodes.

Do you have a thread yourself, I'd love to see your system!

here are some pictures of my tank :D anyways about my tank
i have the turbo twist UV sterilizer, coral life protein skimmer, metal halide with pc fixture, about the water i dont really know to tell you the truth i just take my water to get it tested and they tell me if anything is low/high.... if you have any questions fell free to ask

An idea would be to spot feed it, I had a few(2) polyps of a purple death frag and i fed it mysis shrimp and it took off, now i have 'bout 15-20 polyps in 4-5 months. Also just a thought your uv sterilizer may be zapping off beneficial bugs! just a thought.
