Your candy cane, or any other coral, isn't guaranteed not to have palytoxin. The word itself is confusing when you know what it actually is...this toxin can insinuate itself in many corals, not just zoanthids and palys. In fact, many zoas and palys in captivity test zero for palytoxin. Heck, you can even have palytoxin in your dinoflagulates.
My worse reactions I ever get are never from palytoxin...nemocysts get me! Mostly from mushrooms...burns like fire for daaays. Have the same reaction from zoas and palys.
Wow! That's the most beautiful head of Zoa's I've ever seen. Makes me want to venture out in the sub-freezing weather in my car with ice on the sidewalks and across the wet floor of my LFS to get me some of those.

I actually read a thread like that last month.. some poor guy bought a fish, left the LFS, slipped on the icy road, broke the bag... he picked up the fish and ran back inside but it didn't make it.. :hmm2:
Those colours are worth the risks for me too. Unbelievable.. I've saved a whole LR just for that reason.. Only problem is zoas in Australia are ridiculous prices.
Just be careful. Animals pets etc can be dangerous in some instances. I love the zoas and my wife handles all fragging of her babies. Over four years not a biggie, again be careful.

Pfft, this has to be some blatant trolling. What you said and what you quoted indicate that you're not even remotely close to participating in this thread. I award you zero points and may god have mercy on your soul.
I keep palys because their toxins are not in the least little bit frightening. I've never even given a second thought to handling and fragging them. Those who've been injured were just unlucky I'd guess.
