Why no coralline algae?

On my display tank, I did the best I could to make sure as little coralline went in as possible - if you really want to keep an SPS dominant tank, you'll come to hate it!!! I had a good chuckle when a newbie came over and told me he didn't like my tank b/c it "didn't have enough pink coralline in it" and couldn't understand why I hated it so. It just sucks up waaay too much alk/ca/mag - then the scraping...ugh.

Ok, sorry for my rant...anyway, if you want to speed it up, get some scrapings of it from another tank and dump it in. Keep your parameters stable and it'll take off. You likely didn't have a huge supply of spores starting out.

Coralline algae spores - if Supa didn't have enough coralline algae in his tank...and didn't scrape it to spread the spores around...then that could easily be the cause. Increasing the amount of spores in the tank combined with good parameters will help.
