(( Wifes )) 54 Corner Sea Horse Build

wow amazing!!! sorry for the newbie question .. but what is that pinkish branch called? It looks great!

Not sure which you are referring to..but its either a sponge or gorg.
Ive been slacking....i need to get some updated pics in here.
The wife and i have been tossing the idea of building a 90 for the ponies. The corals and macros are maturing ...plenty of hitching areas.

Pictures are over due I know.
Please excuse the algae. Im very slowly bringing my p04 down with gfo. I dont want to strip the tank of all p04 so my macros wont grow. So its a very risky balance.

Feeding time

Thanks for the update Maroonman. The tank is looking great. Are you still considering a 90g build? It makes me sad to think of this tank being taken down. I love corner bowfronts, but I'm sure any tank you would do will be nice.

vlangel,
Thanks for the kind words.
To be honest...its up to the wife. This is her system. She made the comment of wanting a all black Erectus. And i suggested a larger tank to house 6. So...i think its all staying As-Is for the time being.

How hard is it to take care of your tree sponge?

The tree sponge is much easier to take care of then the Tube sponge.
The tree I just blast it with a turkey baster to keep it free of any Algae. If any algae gets to growning or gets trapped on it , It will smother that area.
I add Rots, & Phyto.
I'm running a pretty high Nutrient Tank as of now. Imo it is helping me keep the sponges alive. I do have to deal with some hair algae here & there. But my Macros & sponge do well. SO I don't mind .

That is cool, I really think sponges look awesome in your tank! I am in process of building a 72 gallon tank (24x24x29) and currently thinking about aqua scape. I have been thinking about a tree sponge but have been very hesitant due to the care. Are you rearing the rots and phyto or are you buying them? If you are raising them, how difficult is it? If you are purchasing them what is the cost?

Just wanted to give a Update On The Pony Tank .
With Some Warnings .

Back In Nov. Of 2015 we had a outbreak of Flatworms.
We tried to Suck them out with water screening it through a filter sock & draining back into the Tank . We didn't realize that the Flatworms had become visible on the glass because they started to Die . The Water temp Had dropped down to the Low 60's ( the heater stopped working ) . As We started to syphon out the flatworms the had become toxic already . A Few Hrs After we cleaned up the worms and changed filters. The Seahorses Started to Act Very Strange. Come to find out the water was being poisoned by the Flatworms being sucked out and filtered back into the tank. We Immediately removed the Ponies and put them In Some of My Reef Tank water in a Hospital Tank. But it was not quick enough . In the End we lost 3 of Our 4 Beloved Ponies . It was a very Sad Day . These Guys Had so much personality it was unreal. Twice a day they Came to the top Of the Tank As we Would Start the Thaw the food. Feeding straight from the Eye dropper.

While the Sole Remaining Pony was in recovery tank. We removed all the Livestock in the Pony Tank. And did a ( Flatworm Exit ) treatment . Treating the Tank for 2 day . Then Performing 100% water change & a additional 50% water change to remove any toxins . Finally we got our Girl Back In the Tank. A few weeks Went by as we Looked for a few more Ponies to go in with Her.
We Ended Up with 2 Tiny Babies & 1 more Teenager with a Partial Tail Missing . These 3 have watched And Learned From Our Big girl . All which have developed nicely over the Past 6 Months .
The Flatworms Have been a Battle . ( no New Corals Or additions rock wise ) 3 months later we saw Flatworms on the Leathers again. With No hesitation , We removed all the Livestock and put them in Temp Tanks while we treated the Main Pony Tank AGAIN!!!. I personally think the eggs are not being Killed with the treatment .
2 Months Later after the 2nd Treatment we Seen More flatworms. This Is when We Introduced the Spotted Mandarin Goby . This Guy Has been a Heaven sent . Eats Frozen Brine , Live Brine , And believe THE FLATWORMS. No more Flatworms have been seen. .
But now out issue ............... Our Mandarin has Gone Missing . Not on the Floor, not in the sump, sock , overflow .Nothing But Ponies & him in this Tank. We have not seen him for a week Now. ERRR ... Anyone ever had one go Hiding for a long period of time ? I have read a few post about some being gone as long as 3 Months without being seen .

So Here Are Some Updated Pics Of the Tank .
