Wild Caught Hybrid and Variant Pair

In Memoriam
Indonesia another country I visited during my 3 month plus dive and research trip and what a bizarre find, while on my 3rd dive I saw what appeared to be a mated pair of clown fish, at first glance the female appeared to be a white stripe maroon clown (Premnas Biaculeatus) with an incomplete 3rd band, however upon closer inspection I noted it did not have the cheek spines of Premnas Biaculeatus. Its eye, forehead and mouth structure bare a canny resemblance to one A.Ocellaris. The local divers have seen this on a few occasions and are certain its a "cross between a maroon and ocellaris" to quote them and I concur. And that's not all the male of the pair happens to be A. Perideriaon.
What a bizarre find!

see photos attached.

P.S. Questions and comments are most welcome..........

There's just one problem. Maroon and ocellaris don't live in the same species of host anemone. It's kinda impossible for these two species to cross breed, in the wild, when they don't live together.

both species can be found in Indonesian waters and its surrounding waters

odd pair

odd pair

i would love to see them mating and produce some frys.
Zuma if it does happen make sure to learn how to take care of the frys it will be a new yet crazy unusual breed of clowns.
Now these days nothing is impossible. These are all living creatures that can go anyway they want and breed with anyone they want. i've heard of totally other breeds mating and partnering...yes very weird and possible. It's just nature and it takes it course.

I use the term "mated pair" as many would to mean "bonded pair" and
"spawning pair" to mean currently laying eggs or have in the past.
pardon the confusion...

But, IMO, that is a bit deceitful. If you were to every sell them and claim that they were a "mated" pair, when they have never spawned would be wrong.

I don't know anyone that would consider "mated" to actually mean only "bonded".

There's a store up in Orange County, CA that has a fish that looks like the one pictured above. I've stared at it sveral times. I swear it really does look like a maroon x ocellaris. It's just the strangest thing I've seen...

but he is not selling them, they might have spawned in the wild we dont know...dont think so they seem young....time will tell...however he was very clear that they havent spawn....

That is true, he isn't selling them. And I guess it isn't that big of a deal, but they are not a mated pair, that much is true.

It is cool that they are hanging together so far, and hopefully it stays that way for you.
I personally had an occ buddy up to a maroon for a while, till she matured and beat the snot out of the lil occ about 6 mo later.
So in this case terminology makes a very big difference on what it is you actually have.
if they were in fact spawning, that would be pretty big news.

I was actually asking the price of the one SDguy had seen at OC, CA, sorry for the confusion.
