Wild true percula quarantine

I finally picked up a wild true percula clown which I first saw back in the mid 80s. Getting a pair has been a life long dream and the orange on this one is practically tangerine. :inlove::inlove::inlove:

I've seen various threads on battling Brook with wild clowns. It's currently in a 10g with some aged live rock for stability. Any tips on quarantining? I have 37% formaldehyde available but wanted to get some recommendations before treating it with anything. It has the typical clownfish "bobbing" up and down, normal breathing and natural fin positions and movement. The only red flag is white stringy feces. Suggestions?? TIA!

I would use Prazipro for intestinal worms which is suspect in your case with white stringy poop. You could use Chloroquine phosphate for brook. I'm using it now QT my clowns and angelfish. They tolerate it real well. I plan on using Prazi pro after 30 day treatment for worms just in case.

Wild caught percula should always get a formalin bath before they even go into the quarantine tank. You want to eliminate the chances of a Brooklynella infection before you see any symptoms.

Stringy poo doesn't necessarily mean a worm infection, more likely it is actually something bacterial.

There is nothing that indicates any effect of CP on Brooklynella. I would stick with the proven measures. In the case of Brooklynella (and Trichodina or Uronema) that is a formalin bath followed by a transfer into a "clean" tank.

Do you still recommend 1.3mL/gallon (37% formaldehyde) as I read from one of your posts on CoralsAddiction's thread on Wild Onyx.

Update: The fish was in 1.012 water 79F at the LFS and I've kept him there to avoid undue stress. He seems normal this morning still with some white stringy poo. My plan is to do a formalin bath and transfer to a new sterile QT. Any other instructions? Thanks again!

Treat it! I lost 2 pairs of tank raised clowns after introduce a pair of wild caught without proper treatment. Lesson learned.
