Will a 6-line hold it's own against 2 striped damsels?

Hi, all!

I have a 65g with two 8 year old mean striped damsels. I would love to get a 6 line wrasse. Do you think they are compatible?

I would get rid of the damsels, but they have been with me since the beginning and hubby loves them (I do too, but don't tell anyone!).

Damsel are great in the right tank and the six line may stick up for itself but i guess it depends on how nasty and aggressive they are. I tried a six line with my similar sized springers dottyback, its one of the laid back dottys and a lot more peaceful then your proposed damsels, lets just say the wrasse didn't last long.
I bet your likely to get lots of differing opions and you won't really know until you try it. Putting it in a floating breeding trap for a while so they know its there and get used to it may help and they are pretty hardy little fish, normally.

I wouldn't try it, personally. If the damsels were young and small and going in at the same time as the six-line, I wouldn't be too worried.

Being that well-established, as well as already mature...I don't think the six-line has a chance.

That is what I would advise.

+1 to not doing it. I know its hard but if you really want other fish you will probably have to part with these guys or set up a 2nd tank.

Thanks guys!

I am 'upgrading' my 65g to a 40 breeder, so I will have some extra rock and sand when I switch over. I will have to set them up their own FOWLR tank. I definitely want to be able to expand my fishy selections in the new tank!
