Will a BTA JUST STAY PUT

I want to get a BTA but i hear they just move around to much and never stay put and i already have a toadstool and plate coral in my tank and i was wondering if a sting from the BTA would Severly damage/kill the coral while it finds its home . Is this true or will they just settle down and find a good spot

They will settle down and find a spot they are happy with. I have two BTA's in a 90 gallon. One stayed exactly where I put him. The other one overnight moved 4 feet across the tank and about 15" lower. It has not moved since. They stay in one spot of they are happy there.

Mine stay put unless I alter their environment (flow and lighting especially will irritate them if changed). At this point, mine have been in the tank long enough that they've stayed put for over 6 months without budging (the tank was set up in its current incarnation a year ago). It did take them a bit to decide where they wanted to be so I just had to keep an eye out for any sps that they approached.

mine stayed in one spot for 8 months, then up and moved dec 22. been moving ever since

If conditions are right,then I think BTA's are one of the least mobile anemones.My green BTA has been on the same rock for about 9 years,despite moving tanks/house a few times in between.My RBTAS are on the same rock I introduced them to.If they are constantly mobile,then something in the tank is lacking/bothering it.I've found they like to have the foot well hidden in a cave or overhang,& the main body exposed to good flow & high light.HTH

I have had one BTA in my 75 for over a year now. It moved for about 2 weeks, all within 6 inches of one side, then moved up a rock. It finally stayed when I "lodged" itself inside a hole in that rock and hasn't moved since

Also, I got a BTA from a lady that had had it for about 6 months and it wouldn't stay put at all. The most it stayed put was 2 days. I put it ina 29 gallon tank and it hasn't moved since. I have had it over 5 months no with no movement

I think that the common element in the "success" that I am having keeping them put is the hole in each rock that they have settled into. I think that the hole make the BTA feel more secure. That is the only common element. One has a trio of clowns that call it home, the other has clowns in the tank that haven't gotten within 6 inches of it. I think that it is the hole
