will a clam detach if it doesn't like a spot?

i have a small crocea on a ledge. unfortunately the monti cap above it is growing much faster than it is. it is pretty well anchored down, but is now in the shade. will it let go when it has had enough?

if its shaded now you need to move it. just tip it to one side so you can see the byssal threads, then cut the threads as far away from the clam as you can
