I currently have a bunch of live rock that ive been battling cotton candy algae with... in a short few months. i will be moving. i was wondering if i took out the infected rock, scrub the algae off, treat the rock with peroxide to kill off what i cant scrub off. then place into a cryptic zone in my fuge for several weeks. if all the algae will die off, or will any remaining spores remain dormant during the cryptic time, then once introduced to light again. the aglae blooms again?

the rocks will be in complete dark with 0 light for up to 8-12 weeks. should this completely kill off all aglae? or should i bite the bullet and remove rock and let it dry out to make sure nothing survives??

Soak your rock for 2 minutes in a 20% mix of 3% h2o2 and tank water. While it is in the water use elbow grease and brush it off. The water in your dip should turn green with what is oxidized from the rock. I see no reason to leave rock in dark after a soak of hydrogen peroxide.
