I currently have one false clown in my 75, and would like to purchase an additional clown. But this time I want to get a true percula clown instead of a false one. So my question is if I got a true perc that is half the size of my false and put them in the same tank, will they pair up? Or will the larger false kill off the true perc? What do you guys think? If this is not a good idea, I will try to trade back the false and just purchase two true perculas instead. Would like to know what you guys think.

I think that it is do able...I mean its different with every individual clown, its not like a species wide thing. I have had Ocellaris clowns that have been absolutely the sweetest things when I have introduced a small new clown for a pair...but with true percs, when they are full blown females and you introduce a new juv. clown to the mix...its not fun...they usually get beat up pretty bad...

I think though having an ocellaris clown as the established female, you should be fine.

Took the plunge today and bought a true percula half the size of my false ocellaris. The False ocellaris took to the true right away, not attacking it but swam right up to it and did its dance. They are now swimming close to each other everywhere in my tank so hopefully all is good.

I think all will be fine. These fish are soooooo closely related that they probably don't even notice the different number of dorsal fin rays.

My true percula almost hosted my torch coral today, until the stupid stripe damsel chased it away. Saw it nibling on some of the tentacles, but before it got any further the damsel had to ruin it. Hopefully it will host something other than my mag cleaner soon :).
