Will a Maroon hold its own?

I've been wanting to get a Maroon Clown for quite some time but can't seem to find one with any real size. The largest I have found is maybe 2-3". The problem comes in that I have a Pic Trig, Porc Puff, and a Blenny. I don't want to add the clown if its just gonna become a snack. The Trig and Puff are both 4"+. I added the blenny to the mix about a month ago and it seemed to hold its own(trig took one nip at it and blenny went right back at him and that was the end of it). Just seeing if a clown can also hold its own in the tank. I'm hoping for it to host my GBTA. Any advice would be appriciated.

I think you should be fine, I have a 3 inch maroon with a 4-5" Niger Trigger and they stay away from each other. Maroons are pretty mean and aggressive themselves so it shouldn't be a problem.

i think you will be fine if its about 3" or more. As long as its nowhere near bite-size for either fish. cause the maroon will for sure assert itself and let the others know it is not food, but it cant do that if its simply too small.

I had a mated pair in my 220g and my female was about 4". Meanest fish in the tank. They can be quite aggressive as far as clowns go.

I have a mated pair of yellow striped maroons. The female is about 3" and she attacks my hand when I put it in the tank to clean it. She has drawn blood more times than I can count. Their aggressiveness in combination with the protection of an anemone should be enough to keep from becoming a snack.

I swear to you, a maroon clown puts a piranha in the shade when it comes to aggression. They are pushy.

You won't have to worry about the Maroon. He will be in your tank waaaaaaay after you want him out. :lol2:

A great white shark MIGHT be able to hold its own against a large female maroon. Any other fish and I put my odds on the clown.

My M. Clown female, when I still had her lol would sit at the front of the tank looking at me watch TV, just waiting for me to decide that I wanted to put my hand in the tank.

Ditto what everyone said. Clowns also can get "meaner" with an anemone. They will protect that area where the anemone is.

+1 on the attitude. My maroon has no problem attacking my hand while her boyfriend watches and cheers. However she freaks out and runs when I show her a pic of herself on my phone. Got to love these crazy clowns.

Well I went to my LFS and the largest maroon they had 3"+ got its butt wooped by some damsels and cole tang after being fine for over a week, so he had to QT it till it heals up. He also had a 4" Tomato or Cinnamon Clown there (labeled as a tomato, but is dark like a cinnamon), so I picked it up. Read these guys have a attitude as well and is holding its own with the trig, and the porc is paying no mind to it. Thanks for the help.
