Will a sixline wrasse and/or algae blenny jump out of an open top tank?

Right now I have a lid on my tank that I would like to remove and go open top. Will either of these fish possibly jump out?

Yes both can and will jump; we had a lawnmower blenny jump out of our rimless tank and did not find him in time.

A note with eggcrate, make sure it is weighted somehow. We have had fish get a "running start" combined with a perfect trajectory that resulted in the fish to ending up on the floor (there is no way the fish could have fit through the holes in the eggcrate!).

Eggcrate doesnt keep small fish like blennies, gobies or wrasses from jumping out, they fly right through it. Mesh is the way to go.

defintley the six line. I have a fire fish and my lfs told me to get garden wire or something like that. he said to get it at home depot

Netting won't block any light at all, but eggcrate will. As above, any fish can jump but the six line will be more prone to it.

Yup, my sixline dissapeared and I could never find it, figured it dissapeared into the rocks till our dog was crunching on fish jerky one day, they definitely jump.

i have a sixline wrasse for 5months in my open top hes still swimming never jumpped now diamond gobies i had 4 jummp

I wish my six line would jump out of the tank. He is one of the meanest fish I have seen. He killed my Jordani wrasse which was 3 times bigger than him.

I've had my sixline for 3yrs in an open top and lawnmower blenny over a year. they can but that doesn't mean they are or will.

I had a blenny and 6 line with an open top for 8 months, neither jumped. But I/they may have been lucky. I have the brs 1/4in mesh now. It doesn't block any light, great product. I know for a fact that my wrasse and anthias would have jumped out if it wasn't for the mesh.

DIY Screen!

DIY Screen!

I just completed my screenings for my cover with the quarter inch clear from BRS and the hinged screens from the light to the tank with dark fiberglass screening to cut down glare from the metal halide and while still allowing for good air exchange...:bounce2:Looks Awesome!!!
