Will A Torch coral sting A Clam?

breutus

Don't ask me, I'm wrong.
I know this is probably a dumb question but... I guess my Torch coral has grown enough that it is now occasionally laying it's tentacles across A nearby Clam. The Clam doesn't seemed bothered by this so, Is this something to worry about, Will it be effected by it's sting? I can move it further away if necessary, but didn't want to if it doesn't bother it.

It is possible that the clam is so buoyancy-neutral and chemically-neutral that it is failing to trigger the nematocysts of the torch, but do not count on this lasting: one hard flutter of a water current, one sting, and this could get unpleasant, imho---I have no experience except to have had a frog and a torch in close contact: worked fine for a couple of months and then it started being less ok. Familiarity bred hostility and I don't know quite what triggered it.

I have had stuff fall on my clam overnite and it made it out ok, but other than that I would say keep them out of contact to be safe. Not to hijack the thread but I've always thought two differnt styles frogspawn could touch eachother and be safe. From what I'm reading maybe not?

can clams even get stung? in the wild they are encrusted with all types of corals that are constantly touching their mantles.

I guess that was my biggest thought I have a clam with anthelia growing up it and another with zoa's growing up it. but i havbe seen some with all kinds of things growing around and on them.

But I did move it anyway better not to take a chance!
