Will all People Eater Palys bleach/fade or get white spots under metal halides?

I've seen a lot of people eater palys lately that are being kept under M.H., and almost all of them have white spots or are faded out from the lighting. Is this caused by not acclimating them to the light slow enough or can they just not handle metal halides?

My RPE's looks fine under MH's. They are under 150 MH and 2 75 VHOs and are fine. They sit about 10 inches from the light.

PPE will not be as purple under strong lighting so keep your PPE kinda shaded

Just the purples or will the others be affected? I have 2 175 watt MH and and Icecap 660 powering 2 VHOs. I have one that resembles a Desert Storm and it is halfway up the tank (55 gallon) The adult polyps are doing ok but the smaller polyps are not coloring up so well. I also have a PPE frag that hasn't recovered from shipping stress. It is on the bottom and fairly shaded.

I keep most of my palys at the bottom with 2 10k 150w MH and actinic suppl. I kept my PPE about half way up and they were bleaching, so I moved them back down.
You just have to play with them, start at bottom and slowly move up til you reach optimal color.
Some say water qualities will affect slight color appearance as well, but I cannot comment on that, LOL !!

I have never had a zoa or paly bleach out or have white spots. See my tank description for lighting. I dont have a problem top or bottom. Good colors and good size. I do know alk can cause some problems if too high or low, or changed too fast, but I have not experienced this.

I also have some RPEs and i think they look more vibrant under halides than they did under the VHOs at my LFS.

I've had RPE's and PPE's speckle from too much light, but I liked they way they looked. New growth typically comes in looking normal.
