Will goldspecs jawfish eat my firefish or others?

His mouth is bigger than Shamu. He was a pity purchase - LFS had him in a 6x6x6 with no sand or rock for 5 weeks.

Should I put in my 30g by himself or is he a community fish?

Post pics, I heve never seen one. I have read that the dusky jawfish that also have a really big mouth, eats shrimps and really small fishes but I really can not tell you beacause I don have it. I only have a pair of pearly jawfishes and dont bother anything but their mouth is not so big.

I would be surprised if it ate your firefish. How big of a jawfish is it?? My bluespot is in w/ a lot of small wrasses w/ out any problem. Either tank should be fine as long as you have a dsb & a tight fitting cover.

If I ever see him again I will - He's in quarantine in my 30g algae tank- I pushed the algae all to one side to give him an open area so the tank is half rubble zone and half packed with algae. he went into the algae jungle and has not come out. i hope he's alive

Thanks, blface - He must be fully grown because he's at least 4 in. long. His mouth seems bigger than a bluespot and looks sort of like it's got an extra hinge on it to open extra wide - that could be for sifting sand or something?

I had a bluespot that ate a yellow clown goby - I saw him do it! He spit the goby right back out but then soon after the goby was missing.

I noticed about 4 large spots of ich on him while he was floating- :sad1:

Don't get me started about LFS's - but let me just say I'm glad I didn't take their word for it about their sg/salinity :mad2:
