I have a pair of true percula misbared clowns and I see in the store their clowns that are really dark orange and black will my clowns do this as they mature or are those a certain kind of clowns that are darker ??
I wish I would have took pictures it is just mine are small and have a yellow tent to the orange in them and the ones at the store were like dark orange they were fancy true percula I think idk but I have been doing research all afternoon and can't find out if there is a certain type of clowns that are dark orange like this or is it just these particular fish I am seeing I need a few of them and they were the same darker orange
Nutrition has more a long term effect on coloration. Anything that happened over a short period of time is rather environmental influences or the mood the fish are in. Fish that feel insecure often lose color. But this is not really a "loss" of color, but rather just a contraction of the chromatophores.
As for different color forms of percula - there are several genetic strains and not all have the large amount of black you see in others. Also the brightness of the orange varies.
Lastly the color is also influenced by the host anemone (or even lack of one).
So I found a company that breed clowns and I called them it is the diet the feed astaxanthin it enhances the pigmentation and makes the oranges darker and more color. Also I run a 6 bulb T5 324 watt fixture changing to a to bulbs soon
