will percs ever adopt new anemone?

I've had two of my Perculas for about a year now and i just added a pretty large Haitian "pink tipped" anemone. the clowns just dont seem to notice the anemone at all. when will they start being the symbiotic fish that their supposed to be? will it ever happen?

Those anemone arent natural clownfish host but they will very rarely adopt it, if u want one that they have a better chance of adopting then go for something like a BTA

Looks like an ocellaris to me. I don't know from personal experience, but I've heard that Haitian anemones will sometimes eat clowns. Definitely not a good choice of anemone. As Kar93 mentioned, a BTA would likely be a better choice. Although not a natural host for ocellaris (or perculas for that matter) often ocellaris will go into BTA's. And I am certain a BTA would at least be safe and not eat your clown. Anemones are an animal you definitely want to research before purchasing.

Oh, and don't mix a condy (Haitian) and a BTA. Condys are known to move and sting things.

I would take the condy (haitan) back and get a BTA, Rose BTAs look very nice the Green ones do aswell. Its a matter of personal choice, I prefer green.

I have two percula's, although one looks more like an Ocellaris to me, but the LFS says he's a percula. One percula is a Wild Caught, and the one that may be a Ocelllaris, is Tank Bred. The Tank Bred has never shown any interest in hosting in anything. The wild caught, first hosted in a hammer, and then I got a frogspawn wich was larger, and he started hosting in that immediately, and I just bought a Sabae Anemone 10 days ago, and as of last night, he is now hosting in the Anemone. I'm so exited !! You'd think that the Tank Bred would get the idea and also try to host, but doesn't go near anything. The two clowns get along fine, so it's not that he's not allowed in. CollinT, what kind of lighting do you have? Anemones need pretty strong lighting.

I have seen a tomato clown living in a condy at my lfs and have seen pictures of maroons in a condy here on RC. If you have trouble getting rid of the condy you could try getting a maroon or a tomato.. in their own tank of course.. don't put them with the ocellaris.

thanks for all the advice everyone. and i have two 75 watt actinic whites on it. i may have not done my research on anemones but i did when it came to lighting lol. im gonna try and take back the condy and get a BTA. hopefully my LFS has some.
