Will this be the next clown to have?

Dawman, those naked clowns, no white at all, are called "naked clowns". They are just pretty much the opposite coloration pattern of the cotton candy clown in the picture above, but same end of ugly.

I wonder two things. 1. Will they cost more than 100 clams each?
2. How many people will shell out the clams to get one?

No clams from this guy. ugh.

I not sure if I would say "engineered" as much as selective breeding. These types of animals show up once in a great while in nature, but because they are usually recessive traits, or much weaker individuals, they usually don't pass on their genetics. I'll get off of Goldfish for a minute (and I'm not going to even go near dog breeds-by the way, love the shar- pei's Chris) and say that while you may see a piebald deer or an albino deer in the woods if you spend a LOT of time in the woods, I doubt you'd ever see a whole herd of them. Black ocellaris occur in nature, black onyx are loved by many, white clowns will be coveted by some (and will comand a high price at the beginning), but Nemo, will most likely always be the most popular.

The "regular" clowns will always be the most popular, but years from now they'll be called feeder clowns ;)

It really bugs me that this is happening with marine fish. I'm just waiting for the day I see Glass Cardinals injected with all kinds of pretty fluorescent dye.:mad2:

Honestly I like this fish more than any snowflake or picasso, but I don't like how these fish seem to be ending up just like, as previously mentioned, fancy goldfish. An all white clown would actually be kind of cool looking, or oddly cool if nothing else. However, the originals usually always look better than the fish with the glorified deformities/irregularities, imo.

They are doing to mother nature what man always does when there is a premium price to be had. Just look at fancy goldfish, bulging eyes, double caudal fins, no dorsal fin, etc, etc. So far with clowns it has been mainly color patterns, except for ORA's Stubby clowns, which are grotesque, short spined fish because of poor conditions during the larval phase. As long as people will pay a premium for unusual clowns, the breeders are going to market what used to be thrown away as culls. Of course Mother nature has a way with abberations too, if they prove to be more robust, they may evolve-survival of the fittest.

You are all too right about that. Change Nemo's clothes = $$$

I'd like a pair, I used to think snowflakes were ugly until I saw a pair at a store, I have different pairs and whenever I have someone over the snowflakes get the most attention. Hopefully they retail for less than $200 a pair.

I love white and albino animals - horses, dogs, cats, snakes, and some types of fish (FW bettas, for instance) look most beautiful to me with white colouration. These clowns just don't do it for me - the fish in that picture looks oddly shaped, and completely unnatural. An albino clown would be neat to see, but this one just looks funny to me. Not necessarily ugly, just... not right.

As mentioned before this is showing the trend of CB clownfish. With thousands of clownfish being bred a few will have weird/different markings and colors. If someone thinks they are appealling they will then breed for that trait.

What we will also probably see is more crossbreeding of clownfish species.

i would like to see a pure white clown. but this one is not very nice looking. i would also like to see a pure black clown, then imagine having a pair of a pure black with a pure white hosting a RBTA.

i wonder how many years till we see fantail clownfish! that will be a sad day.

Some of these new clowns are beautiful. I think the ones I don't like are the ones that the white is kind of opaque looking, it looks like they have been skinned to me.

I would have to say I would shell out the dough for a pair like this. I just like weird and unsual stuff, I guess I am weird and unsual.

I want one of these places to make me a fish like this...lol
