Will this kill ick?

my tank is fairly new,the live rock is not really live yet, been up for a few months.

I may have ick so I'm thinking of catching all the fish, putting in QT tank and treat with copper.

If I drain the display as much as I can, not taking out the sand or rock and leave it be for a week. Then refilling it with RO/DI fresh water and then putting salt in it. Can ick survive that?

I will then try to cycle the tank again.

Before you start catching and treating the fish you should be fairly sure about what they have as treatments are different.

Before using a toxin like copper against ich I would rather see if the fish can handle it on their own.
To successfully rid fish of ich there are several better and more reliable options that are also easier on the fish.

I personally would do hyposalinity if many fish have to be treated, the infection is kind of heavy or clearly escalating and the fish are already somewhat weakened by it.

Though TTM is quicker if only a few fish have to be treated or you just want to make sure your fish are ich free. It is for sure the preferably quarantine procedure for new fish before they go in your DT.

Both, hyposalinity and TTM only work against ich (Cryptocaryon) and nothing else.

If you are not sure what your fish have, ich, velvet or brook, CP may be the better choice as it treats all of them. Though CP has a few drawbacks, uncertainties and risks. So you may want to read through the recent threads talking about it.

I agree.
