I'm looking at purchasing this lighting setup for my 72" 125 gallon tank. I really like the Sfiligoi fixtures because of the convection cooling (quiet operation) and how well they do at keeping the light in the tank and out of your eyes. So what's my issue?
The tank shown in the listing is Euro-braced. Mine is a standard tank with two black braces 1/3 of the way in from each side. If I mount the lights as shown in the thread I'll have each of the 400 watt metal halides about 10 inches above and four inches offset from the braces. I see two potental issues:

- The braces can cause a shadow in the tank. This one is more cosmetic than anything else and I tend to think that light from the other pendent will fill in the shadow to some degree.
- Of more concern is the heat. I've heard of metal halides melting braces when placed right above them causing catastrophic failure. But that's been with metal halide hoods with relatively short feet, putting the bulbs very close to the braces. Of course if I find it getting hot enough to make me nervous I can always mount one or two fans.
