I have a fluval edge (6 gallon) that i cut the top off so its a rimless tank.

will a 2x18w nova t5 fixture be enough to qt sps for 4 week?

Please let me know what problems I might have or if this should be good to go.

I would keep it in a real cool room. I did the same thing with a different fixture. My two problems were over heating and i used the ACmini filter that it comes with and without the top it splashed all over the fixture when the water level got a little low.

Thats fine. I started to use a tiny tank with a small pump and a DIY LED light. Thats it. Nothing else.

As long as the temp is stable, sounds like it will be fine. Might need a little more flow added. A small powerhead maybe. This could add heat too BTW.
Maybe just a small fan blowing across the suface of the water?
Use your DT water for water changes and you're good to go.

It's gonna be a lot better than doing the whole dipping and praying it worked thing. That's for sure.
