Will this suffice?

Would this light be enough to light a 125G mainly F/O tank (the exception being a few various softies)?

Coralife 48 Inch Lunar Aqualight
W/ two 65 watt 10,000K and two 65 watt True Actinic 03 Blue
and 4 Lunar Blue-Moon-Glow LED Lamps

I found one for $150 locally and was wondering if it would be functional for my purposes.

Your feedback would be appreciated. Thanks!

They have the Coralife Dual T-5 setups for like $60, you can get two... They are 48" as well which I think would be better than the PC... You can find those at all the LFS I believe w/in that price. If not I ran into it today at Fish Planet during my lunch break. Then the extra $30 you can get separate lunar lighting or what not. Just a thought.

Aren't the basic Coralife Dual T5 set-ups just Normal Output, and not HO? I had a 24" Coralife unit that sounds like what you're talking about, and it was just NO...which is why it was so cheap.

good question. but if it's FOWLR, isn't the food and protein the cause of color for the fish? I didn't really look into the actual box or what not, just caught my eyes. But T-5 would be worth your while than PC honestly.

I think the pc's would work you would just have to scape your polyps and such slightly higher on a larger tank. Up high PC's would give more useable light than (2) T5 due to the wide spread stack of pc's and the sheer wattage they carry. Even though a 2 unit would provide less overall light they will hit the sandbed with more light than the pc's, due to there efficient design enabling for great water depth penetration.

Just to make sure you see a another good choice at a comparable price. Another bonus is you would have a lot more room in your canopy to add 1 or 2 more to keep your softies and lps anywhere you want with good coloring. I think Im more partial to the quality and length of life plus, the fact that theirs room for an easy upgrade if you chose. Another thing to consider is the life of the PC bulbs, for optimal use and coloration people should swap every 6-9 mos. as opposed to 12-18(even though manuf. suggest 18-24 mos., just like pc manuf. probably suggest 12 mos.) so your actually paying the same amount of money every year but just not getting the best bang for your buck your already spending.

Seeing how it will be a FOWLR for now I would hold out and be a lil finicky. Like what just a couple weeks ago Sam was selling that T5 retro for around 100? Great thing about retros is they can fit any length of tank, just space it out and get the length you need:)

But in short to answer your question, sure, Im sure it'd work ;)

Btw, my opinion of the NO T5 is that there equivical if not less than a PC, especially a standard 65w pc. The only way they could be comparable or more efficient would be with an individual reflector which, most prefabbed units like Coralife and Nova do not do.

John, I have the coralife 4x96 unit for $100 used. I do not know if you were getting a new one or not. It has been in my garage for a year now.

What length is the coralife 4x96 that you have? I haven't seen a 48inch 4X96, just 36" and 72". Thanks.
