Will two bulkheads alone work?

As far pumps.... get one that is not noisy and does not use loads of electricity. My mag pump is noisy, I won't be using another one. An external transfers less heat into your tank, which is a plus. You might check out pan world and reeflow to start. Others may have some great suggestions on good pumps. The reeflow dart seems to be a good closed loop pump, but may blow away everything in a 46 gallon.

A Pan World 40PX w/ a max flow of 480gph; that could work...
Maybe a ball-valve if it is too much return-loop flow, to regulate it?

Yea, that would work. Now just research other pumps with around that amount of flow, electric consumption and price. One of the big shot engeneer guys from Iwaki is with pan world so those pumps have to be good, right?
