Wireless Wave Driver Software Bug

Dear Customers,

We have determined that there is a small bug in our Wireless Wave Driver code which is very easily worked around. This bug only applies to Pulse Mode.

After setting the max pulse speed using the knob, you press set to adjust the frequency. It was intended that at this time your speed setting would be locked-in. However, the software bug causes your speed not to be stored until you press set AFTER adjusting the frequency; but this would bring you back into the set-speed phase. This was an oversight on our part and we apologize. In the event of a power outage, your speed setting will not be stored and your pump could restart at a higher than planned for speed unless you follow this work around

Fortunately, this bug is very easily worked around. Simply follow these steps:

By pressing the set button three times after setting your max speed, you are working around our bug and your max speed will be stored in the event of a power outage.

All pumps shipped to date have this bug. As of tomorrow, any new pump on the assembly line will be programmed with new code that corrects this problem. You can tell your software revision by cycling power to the driver and recording the LED color sequence prior to the pump starting. Current production models blink: green/blue/blue/blue/white (revision 1.3). The new code will blink: green/blue/blue/blue/blue/white (revision 1.4). Future code updates will have different blink cycles.

We do not feel this is a very significant issue. In the near future, MP40w pumps will be able to wirelessly re-program other MP40w pumps (no matter how old) with the most up-to-date revision of code. Once this occurs, any owner of revision 1.3 will be able to re-program their pumps to the most up-to-date code. We expect pumps to ship with this capability within the next one to two months. It is likely there will be other goodies in store for the future as well, such as more or revised random modes, etc. We will always be improving our code to meet the needs and desires of our customers.

Either way, because each MP40w pump is capable of being wirelessly re-programmed, there is no reason not to purchase a pump now. No pump will ever be obsolete.

Does this apply to the new drivers being shipped?

I'm not talking about the new pumps but the updated driver for those of us with the old pump.

The information above applies to WWD's as well.

Hi CJ,

Understood. Truth is you won't be waiting long. Any vendor that is out of stock as of today will be receiving Rev 1.4 when their stock arrives.

Hello Alex,

I'm sorry to hear about this. However, this is not the appropriate thread for your question. Please contact service@ecotechmarine.com and we will be sure to help you as soon as possible. This thread is specifically relating to a software bug on WWD code revision 1.3.

tim,

I thought that this would be a problem that might be corrected by the bug fix, hence my post. However since that is not the case i will email the link with my question.

Alex,

Check to make sure you have revision 1.4 and not 1.3 which has the bug.

Hi Alex,

No, the bug discussed above is very minor and only requires the user press two extra buttons to get around it. Aside from the post above it's likely no one would ever even notice the bug exists.

If you are having a problem with your driver then our service address is the best avenue.
