Won 48" hood

Hi, I was just wondering if you have had any problems with the Won Hoods. I have a 2x250 watt dual ended mh hood with the T5's that I bought about six months ago.

I am having problems with the bulb on the left lighting up as bright as the bulb on the right. The left bulb is staying sort of purple, it's like it is still warming up. The current bulbs are Hamilton 14K 250 watt de. I replaced the original bulbs thinking that was the probelm but I still have the problem. I have also switched the two wires on the ballast to see if that could be the problem. Any ideas on what the problem could be?

Hi,

We haven't heard of too many problems with these, but most people contact Won directly, so we wouldn't always hear about problems. We have heard of a couple ballast issues though and if both bulbs do the same thing on that one side, it sounds like your ballast is not working properly. I would recommend calling Won Brothers. You have a 1 year warranty, so they'll replace your ballast or they might know exactly what the problem is and just send you a replacement part. Well I just spoke to them. I'm not sure if they understood a word I said but they are sending me something.

Ya, i think everyone that works there is Korean except for Donny and he is hard to reach often.

Well they sent me two new capacitors. I can't believe what a difference it made. The light is now much, much brighter than it ever was before. I just hope these hold up, this is the second time they have had to send them to me.
