My SO just cleaned the 125g tank and while using the magfloat managed to get a rock between the tank and magfloat. Tank now has 4 nice long scratches in the front glass. With her total lack of care I am really ready to just take this thing down and close up the wall and be done with this.

If she doesn't care, maybe it's time for an upgrade! [emoji5]. How deep down in the tank is it? And how bad are the scratches? Maybe you can drain some water and fill in the scratch with a compound so their not as noticeable

There is no way to hide the scratches. They are right in the middle of the tank. She is as careless as can be. The tank is worthless now as a display tank. I am regretting giving her this tank to do with what she wanted. Everyone told her it was much harder than she was thinking and she ignored them. She turned this into a high-tek planted freshwater tank having no experience at all with any kind of tank. She did her thing and it looked great when she initially finished her build. I told her she needs to research, research, research and get some knowledge about the plants, of which she randomly picked anyway. She did none. Everyone told her algae would take over if she wasn't on top of her maintenance, she wasn't, and it did. She is now in the chemicals for everything stage and still hasn't done 5 minutes worth of reading anything. I am now just letting it crash and crash hard and when she gives up I will take it back over and never allow her to step foot again in the fishroom. Some people have no business ever being in this hobby.

I feel bad for your SO, you need to reevaluate how important material things are compared to relationships.

Sorry to hear about the scratches. If the tank is acrylic, then all is not lost. Scratches in acrylic are easily removed without drawing the tank. I started the below thread for this very reason. If it's acrylic, this thread will help. If it's glass, then I feel your pain. Sadly, whether the tank is glass or acrylic, scratches will happen. Those first ones are the most painful. If it's glass, it's obviously not the end of the world. Hopefully she learned a lessor whether than it to be more careful or to not try to be so helpful is another story. Anyway, I hope this thread below helps in the event that your tank is acrylic. If it's glass, just keep the viewing panes clean and only you will notice the scratches.

+1 or it is 2 now?

Thats how most people start the hobby, jump in with both feet, do no research, tank crashes, then they start to research or get out.

I few bad for the OP. If the SO is so careless w something OP cares about, it likely shows a character trait and possible insight of how SO handles other issues in their lives. I say it's time to reevaluate your SO!

Thanks Dr Phil but you misunderstand. I am not really concerned about the tank, it is the total lack of care in being successful. She also tosses fish in the garbage (still alive) if they look sick since she doesn't want sick fish making the tank look bad.

So umm the obvious question is what is she gonna do with you when you are a bit sick ?

Wow...

Maybe the fact that she doesn't give a crap about something he is clearly passionate about is indicative of the state of the relationship???

But that was a great bumper sticker post...

That seems more a lack of help from the posters fault than hers. Clearly she needs help so why isn't he giving it?

Instead he is sitting back and letting it go bad.
