Wooo Hooo

Awesome!!!

Man...I'm actually kinda embarrassed about how many posts I've made. I can guarantee to you that very few of them have been either useful or on topic.

Holy crap...it's been over 5 years since I joined! I just now noticed it when I was mulling over how in the world I made so many posts.

Heh. If you count all the posts I made in the old religion and politics forum (and in the Lounge), I am probably topping about 3000 by now myself. :)

Wow Chris! 6.2 per day, every day, for 4 yrs. I guess there are worse addictions...

Hey....that's how I learned to type....seriously:)

It's better than learning from instant messenger:lol:

The Navy taught me how to type. I almost flunked out of A school because I couldn't type 25 or 35 wpm. Then they explained that if I flunked out there would be a high chance I'd be a Boatsman's Mate and they are the guys hanging off the side of a ship on a rope and harness while underway using a needle gun chip away the old paint and then repainting it. The whole hull! I quickly changed from an ex-carpenter from a family of heavy equipment operators (cranes) to a "pencil pusher". I cant look at the keys when I type or I mess up.

Oh Dave, you've been hi-jacked (we're trying to get back to the good ol' days):uzi:

Congrats Dave!

I just looked at mine and realized I've topped 1000 recently too :D

And what's wrong with that?! :D

I learned with a typing program really, but I learned to type fast with that addiction...

i don't mind. the room needs some pointless chit chat

I took a basic typing class in high-school for just a quarter. Then switched to a Basic programming class (on the old Apple IIe computers which had just come out) for the rest of the year. That quarter, along with my year of drafting class, was the most useful class I ever took in high school.

I did beef up my typing skills until later in college when, while writing an english report, I got tired of 2-finger poking and put my hands in the proper position I had learnt about 3 years before. Speed improved after that (up to about 50 wpm). Later on, I played an online game for a couple of years that was like a graphical chat room (and learned the use of IM at that time, too). Then after that, I started posting on boards like this. I haven't officially timed myself lately, but I think I am somewhere around 80 wpm if I am typing on Word (with autocorrect on) and not watching what I type. If I watch, I think about what I am doing and mess up. It is kind of like playing the guitar. If you have to think about the chord forms, you lag behind and mess up.

Are we totally off topic yet? Or should we start discussing belly-button lint? :D

I took typing in highschool... I guess I can type around 65-70 wpm... The highest I ever got was 78wpm w/o autocorrect... :) I'm glad I took that class... It has come in handy... ;)
