Working on a Power Center!

I just thought I would share my project for the power of my 220. I will constist of 12 outlets with 24 plug-ins. The stair step effect is for installing the x10 witch are controlled by and aquacontroller II. Two DJ 100-A power strips are for controlling the individual oulets. The majority of the plans came from Steven on the DFWMAS forum. Here is a link to his thread also incase I don't touch an important point. http://www.dfwmas.org/Forums/viewtopic.php?t=23646
The only think I don't like is you have to actually have a 3-prong plug to plug into the DJ. Initially I thought you hard wired it in.

Here are some pics of the raw wood to getting started on the center. More pics to come!

I am just so sick of have cords ran everywhere. Not only is it ugly, it's unsafe too. I will get pics updated tonight. Can't wait to get this thing mounted (that means the tank is close to water)...

since you allready built a rack case... just a thought... consider a power conditioner. They have several benefits including: best surge protection money can buy, they keep power level constant (prevents drop off) which I imagine would make a skimmer run more consistent, and they will keep your fish tank equip from adding all kinds of noise to you home audio equip (entertainment center). Just a thought.

Some of the battery backups also have a built in power conditioner. They are generally on the top end of the market. I you look into Monster Cables website they have power conditioners listed.

Power conditioner is piece of gear often used in music industry. Once you have 30 or so devices plugged in you are rarely drawing enough power to run all as they are intended to run. I am no elec engineer but as I understand they keep the available power stable. A good one will even have a led meter to let you know this. they also eliminate the hum normally associated with running way too many pieces of electronic equipment. Yes, I believe your right. Some high end batter backups will incorporate a basic conditioner into the unit. I have been thinking about taking one of mine out of the studio and into the fish are... as I rarely make music now that I have a fish tank(LOL). I thought it might make for a much more consistent operation of a skimmer at the very least. If youare like me you have several things plugged into one or two sockets on the fish tank and I'm sure that means not everything is getting all the elec it needs. Good luck.

yeah, spendy. The djs are nice. I'm just sayin' if ya got the money and wanted to make sure everything is runnin' optimal... this would help.

Well that would be awesome if I had the money, lol. These will work for me. Should I connect the battery back up to the dj with the pumps etc and leave the lights just connected to an outlet?

I would say whenever you plug in a device into another you are compromising its effectiveness... that said I do this all the time.

Wiring done, just a little more painting!
