Worm eating my snail?

Woke up yesterday morning to find a 8-10" worm looking thing head first in a snail shell. No snail in the shell. Guessing he ate it. I caught it (forgot to take a pic). Any idea what it could have been? It was like a long earthworm. Pretty sure there is one more in my tank.

Need a good pic. Was there a slimy cocoon around the shell? There are good worms and really bad worms. Was the snail already dead and just being finished off by harmless detritivore, or was he murdered by the most evil spawn?? Only you can answer these questions:eek1:

There was a clear slime around the shell / head area. Really gross. Not sure if the snail was dead already or not. I used a piece of egg crate and stabbed the worm and twisted it like a piece of speghitti! :)

It was the color of a earthworm. Reddish pink.

Did it look like this?

So this slime reappeared around a dead fish this morning. Could it be this worm that is killing my fish? I've lost a firefish, canary blenny, corris wrasse, and a clownfish all within the last 3 months.

Sounds like something that was going on in my friends tank.
The fish would be all slimed up, and always near the same rock...
